Last night we decided to try and play Jackbox with some friends across the country. It turned out to be way more complicated than we thought.
First, we tried all playing on our PlayStations. I opened up the game The Jackbox Party Pack 6 and invited two groups of friends to a PlayStation Party. It seems like we could only ever have one friend watching my screen at a time, so it didn't work for a group of three.
I tried streaming my screen to Twitch where they watch the game while we had our group chat on the PS4, but they couldn't hear the game itself and the Twitch stream was laggy AF.
So we gave up on that route.
Then we tried Google Hangouts. Sharing my screen on Google hangouts, Twitch streaming on the PS4, and chatting on Google Hangouts. 😂Nothing was working.
Then we moved to Zoom.
And this is where it gets ridiculous, but hey, it worked:
We all chatted on Zoom but we (the hosts) used a second laptop to share the TV screen/PS4 where the main game was displayed. We used our own individual mobile devices to actually play the game.
I'm sure there's a better way to do it. So if you've found a better way please let me know. If not, try this, it's not ideal, but it worked for us. Happy gaming!
